The .ics file attached to the email and the .ics available for download from the platform are not the same. The .ics available for download from the platform has the meetup instructions and location where the .ics on the email does not give any information therefore we always here “is this event actually happening?"
Additionally, the .ics from the platform formatting is merges the “About the Event” and “Meetup Details” and removes any formatting that was entered by the event organizer.
From Jennifer Duer on Blackbaud Community Forums: We were able to reproduce and observe this behavior and I have added a request for our engineering team to work on resolving this issue. Please look for the .ics files to be updated in a future release to improve consistency and formatting. https://community.blackbaud.com/forums/viewtopic/620/59009

YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The formatting issue bothers me so much and it doesn't include the meetup instructions which are very important for people to know. We purposely have to go out of our way to shorten our descriptions so that it doesn't look funky when the calendar is downloaded. It also makes it very difficult for virtual events that include Zoom details. I would LOVE it if I could put the Zoom Details in the Meetup Instructions so that they aren't front and center on the page in the description.
We also experienced issues with the calendar invites and had been advised that the platform not pulling in meetup instructions was due either to the ics not pulling in updates to the volunteer event OR due to a character limist. It would be great to actually have the calendar invite replicate what we put in the volunteer event.
