SUMMARY
Enable individuals and companies to purchase charity gift cards or e-vouchers that recipients can redeem through a public-facing version of YourCause, choosing which charitable cause receives their donation.
It would be great to introduce a functionality within YourCause that allows individuals and companies to purchase charity gift cards or e-vouchers, which recipients can then redeem against a charity of their choice.
For example, a company could offer a £20 charity gift voucher as an employee reward or recognition gift, or an individual could purchase one for a friend or family member.
The recipient would receive a unique voucher code and visit a public-facing YourCause redemption page (or use it via their account), where they could enter their code, browse or search the charities available on the platform, and choose where to direct their donation.
Ideally, this would:
Allow individuals and businesses to purchase charity gift cards or e-vouchers in different denominations.
Generate unique voucher codes that could be shared with recipients.
Provide a simple, external-facing redemption experience without requiring a corporate YourCause account or login.
Allow recipients to search and select from eligible charities already available through YourCause.
Enable donors to include a message or reference, such as an employee's name, so that donations could potentially be attributed to individual fundraising efforts.
Provide confirmation of the donation once the voucher has been redeemed.
The opportunity: This would extend YourCause beyond traditional corporate giving and matching programmes, creating a flexible way for companies and individuals to give the gift of charitable giving while empowering recipients to support causes that matter to them.
It could be particularly valuable for employee recognition schemes, corporate gifting, fundraising campaigns and personal celebrations, while also encouraging greater engagement with the charities already supported through the YourCause platform.
Also, this could go further if Blackbaud enabled this and then partnered with companies such as AwardCo or WorkHuman who operate corporate recognition schemes. This will then enable employees to use their reward points to support causes through YourCause (as an aside, Benevity are already partially active in this market but it is largely untapped).
