In meeting with London Stock Exchange Group this week in London, they brought forward a very interesting idea regarding matching gifts. They use a very custom list of orgs that they will match funds to because they do advanced screenings of those orgs via their KYC team. In the future, it would be great if there could be a bucket for "charities employees can give to" vs "charities employees can direct their match to" all within the same match program. So, it would work similar to an incentives program where you indicate that there are 8 million orgs they could possible volunteer with but they can only redeem the incentive to a set list of charities. In the same way, LSEG would like to give employees the option to give to any number of charities but direct those matches to a very specific list of charities. An example is - employee gives to a Hospice. LSEG isn't going to vet every hospice but they are willing to have them direct the match request to a health related charity such as MacMillian Cancer Support. Or an employee gives to a local food bank but, instead of vetting all of those food banks, they are allowed to direct the match request to a national org like Feeding America.
